NOV 4, 2008 R.I.P.

Professor Joseph Olson of Hamline University School of Law, St. Paul, Minnesota, points out some interesting facts concerning last November's Presidential election:
Number of States won by:
Obama: 19 McCain: 29
Square miles of land won by:
Obama: 580,000 McCain: 2,427,000
Population of counties won by:
Obama: 127 million McCain: 143 million
Murder rate per 100,000 residents in counties won by:
Obama: 13.2 McCain: 2.1

Professor Olson adds: "In aggregate, the map of the territory McCain won was mostly the land owned by the taxpaying citizens of the country. Obama territory mostly encompassed those citizens living in low income tenements and living off various forms of government welfare..." Olson believes the United States is now somewhere between the "complacency and apathy" phase of Professor Tyler's definition of democracy, with some forty percent of the nation's population already having reached the "governmental dependency" phase. If Congress grants amnesty and citizenship to twenty million criminal invaders called illegals and they vote, then we can say goodbye to the USA in fewer than five years.

Plant City Tea Party Gives Marco Rubio a Rousing Welcome

An enthusiastic crowd met in Plant City today to listen to Willie Lawson of BlogTalk Radio, Dr, Gonzalez-Orthopedic Surgeon and Marco Rubio, who will be facing Gov. Charlie Crist in the Republican primary race for the US Senate.

Lawson, active in the local Tea Party, warmed the crowd up and Dr. Gonzalez spoke passionately about the need to stop the Democrats from passing their version of health care reform. The crowd broke out in cheers when Dr. Gonzalez reported that Sen. Bernie Sanders had withdrawn his "single payer" amendment today after Sen. Tom Coburn forced a reading of the 767 page amendment. Both speakers noted the importance of voting for a conservative candidate rather than a "Dem lite" in the August Republican primary. There were no names mentioned but it was clear that Rubio was considered the conservative candidate. Rubio received a standing ovation when he took the stage. His message of personal and fiscal responsibility plays well across Florida and particularly resonates in Plant City, a small mostly rural community. After speaking, Rubio mingled with crowd answering questions and having his picture taken.
No one in this crowd was surprised that Rubio had tied Crist in the most recent Rasmussen poll-he was obviously their choice.

TEA PARTY just barely makes the pages of the Tampa Tribune

Published: December 18, 2009
It was the timing that made it so unlikely.
On a cloudy, breezy weekday in the middle of December, the idea of a political rally of any kind seemed out of place, especially at a park on the north edge of Plant City.
At four in the afternoon people usually are working - although in Plant City, where bad news has piled upon bad news all year, that's not so much true these days in a miserable recession.
At the least, they should be winding up Christmas shopping or getting groceries for a weekend of football and holiday parties. Elections still are far enough in the future that even the dreaded TV political ads are months away.
And this was less a political rally than a celebration of the first "tea party" back on Dec. 16, 1773.
Small groups came drifting in to where a small stage with a row of American flags had been set up. There were booths selling T-shirts, mostly with an eagle above the statement, "We're coming in 2010" on the back, and "Tea Party" on the front.
That's what this was, a "Tea Party." As best as I can determine the "Tea Party" crowd is made up mostly of people who are angry at the way government works (or doesn't) and believe America's values are being frittered away in the name of socialist ideas.
It was a good crowd of close to 400 people, which I suppose is relative when you consider more than 3,000 showed up a few months ago in Plant City for a job fair.
The media's fault
The first speaker was a man named Willie Dawson, who said he was a talk show host on a local radio station. He began by blaming everyone he could think of for our ills and especially the media, which he said was complicit in lying to the American people. Considering he was a member of that very group I couldn't tell if he was lying or not.
The main speaker was Marco Rubio, the former Miami legislator who is trying to out-conservative Charlie Crist for the Republican nomination for a seat in the United States Senate. If you believe the pollsters, he has drawn up almost even with the governor.
The glamour guys
You can see why Rubio is going to do well. He looks a little bit like ABC talking head George Stephanopoulos with a hair cut. He'll be able to hold his own when he goes up against Crist's deep tan.
He also understood this crowd. His populist message and call to return to less government and more traditional American values was right up their flag pole. He also has a relaxed style so that when someone asked him why he was running he was ready with an "I want to win the Nobel Peace Prize" answer.
A crowd followed him out for photographs and handshakes. A man wearing an "American Patriot" shirt told him, "I'm going to vote for you, but you'd better not lie like the rest of them and raise my taxes." Rubio smiled and kept going.
I asked him a little later if he saw himself as becoming the favorite of the Tea Party crowd. He said: "These people are less a party than the mainstream of America's thought. They aren't organized and they have many different concerns, but they want to be heard and we would be wise to listen."

An afternoon and evening of TEA!

December 16th the anniversary of the original "Boston Tea Party", Plant City Florida had it's own TEA party! The afternoon was picture perfect with clear skies, a slight breeze and temps in the 80's. The crowd started to assemble, the music started and the excitement and anticipation of what was to come grew. Many in the assembling crowd had never been to a TEA party, some had been to other tea parties and some had decided to become engaged in expressing their views, concerns, and solutions as a result of their TEA party experience.

The agenda included speakers
Marty McKenna.....Citrus Business-Guest Speaker Immigration Policies
Dr. Julio Gonzalez.....Orthopedic Surgeon Author of "THE TRUTH" Health Care Issues
Dave Hanson.....Writer Talk Show Host- Youth Engagement & Fed Reserve

Marco Rubio...Former Speaker of the Fl House-American & Florida Issues

Randy Wilkinson....Polk County Commissioner-Fed/State/Local reform issues

Rebecca Odell Townsend....Constitutional Attorney-The US Constitution

Willie Lawson....Talk Show Host

Rich Glorioso

The event featured Fresh Iced Tea from Johnsons BBQ here in Plant City.

All ages and even handicapped people made their way to see the speakers and here their challenges of conviction, responsibility, honesty, transparency, ethics, morals, adhesion to the Constitution, US Sovereignty, personal freedom, and government reduction and efficiency.
Marco Rubio spoke about the needs of acting in a conservative American role.

There Plant City Police indicated the crowd grew to a total of approximately 500 during the entire event. People came and went as this was a church night, the middle of the Holidays, a work day and of course the event overlapped all of these.
People are hungry for good ideas, strong leadership, and ethic people of character to protect their values, our country and consitution and the "American Way"

The Boston Tea Party History on Dec 16th, 1773!

Our forfathers left England for the New World----AMERICA. We were still under English rule and such had to pay taxes to England. The "Intolerable Acts" whcih brought out the beginning of our brake from England included:

Forcible Quartering or English Troops in American Homes
The deportation of "Political Prisoners to London for trial
The closing of Boston Harbor which crippled the economy of New England

The Sons of Liberty dressed as Mohawk Indians boarded the ships from England carrying tea for which America had to pay taxes. This was December 16, 1773. Thus began our fight to gain our independance from England.

We are now in the same position with our US Government!

Washington told the Virginia Lesgislature he was prepared to raise a regiment of 1000 men, pay for their muskets and clothing and march to Boston to prepare for War if it came. He told the state assembly
"Shall we after this, whine and cry for relief, when we have already tried in vain? Or shall we supinely sit and see one province after another fall prey to despotism?"
A continental congress was formed and our fight for our American Liberty began.

We are currently in the fight to regain our country once more. Our tea party's are our fight to stop the take over of our great America which has been under the protection of God. Our tea party's are to protect our liberties. If we don't fight for what our forefathers fought for and gave us, we will lose it all not to a foreign country, but to a government take over of all we hold dear. Each day that goes by more and more of our freedoms are taken away. Let's fight to save our freedoms and our country that our forefathers fought so hard to give us!
